El Salvador La Joya
About This Coffee
In the highlands of northern El Salvador, Chalatenango, coffee farms did not exist until the 1980s, and farmers mainly grew grains such as corn and beans, vegetables, and livestock. One of the pioneers was Francisco Chacon, the father of Luis and Santos. When he was young, he went to work on farms in the west and central regions, and learned coffee cultivation techniques through harvesting work. Using the Bourbon seeds he brought back when he returned home, he opened his first coffee plot in 1990. Unfortunately, Francisco passed away early, but since then his sons have supported the family and built small farms on the land they inherited from their father. Currently, "Finca La Joya" (La Joya Farm) is a farm born out of the efforts of this family and the history of the region. Please enjoy the well-balanced taste and the gentle sweetness like nuts and apples.
