Café Don Joel is a small family project rooted in the hills of Costa Rica’s West Valley, where the founders work side by side with their eldest son and wider family. The micromill, named Don Joel in honour of the father of producer Allan Oviedo, sits on about 12 hectares of land. For this lot of the semi-washed San Roque variety, the cherries are depulped and demucilaged, producing coffees that are clean and vibrant yet still rounded with sweetness and a slightly fuller body
