About This Coffee
Established in 2003, Gatare washing station has a significant position in the Nyamasheke district of the western province as one of the first stations to process quality coffee for export. Despite being located in an area with great competition, where several stations share the same farmers, the early establishment of Gatare station has secured its reputation and influence. The station is surrounded by hills covered with coffee trees and regularly achieves excellent results in the Cup of Excellence competition, often placing among the best lots. The farmers who contribute to the Gatare station typically own very small plots of land with an average area of only 1 hectare, with some farms having only 10 coffee trees among other crops. Nevertheless, all farmers undergo training from RTC to maximize the quality and yield of their coffee trees
